Quem não conhecia o Teatro Mágico deve ter ficado curioso com a mistura de show musical e espetáculo circense apresentado pelo grupo no episódio de ontem (24/04) da novela Viver a Vida (vídeo), mas quem já conhecia, e não estava preparado, ficou surpreso, alguns até decepcionados, ao ver um grupo que sempre foi crítico dos veículos de comunicação de massa se apresentando na TV, e logo numa novela da Rede Globo.
O Teatro Mágico surgiu em 2003 e de lá para cá, segundo o site oficial do grupo, já vendeu mais de 190 mil CDs e 40 mil DVDs. Se você acha pouco saiba que o grupo não tem contrato com nenhuma gravadora e ainda disponibiliza na rede, gratuitamente, todo o conteúdo musical produzido por eles. Qualquer pessoa pode baixar legalmente as faixas que guiser ou mesmo todas elas (conheça o projeto MPB-Música Para Baixar). Enquanto músicos e gravadoras do mundo todo reclamam dos prejuízos causados pela troca de arquivos na internet e pela cópia de CDs e DVDs, o Teatro Mágico usa isso a seu favor. É assim que o trabalho deles é divulgado e mais e mais fãs se somam aos já existentes. O grosso do faturamento vem dos shows, sempre sucessos de público, e da venda direta (na lojinha do site ou nas apresentações do grupo) de cds, dvds e artigos como camisetas.
Claro que o sucesso do Teatro Mágico incomoda muita gente, sobretudo os setores que mais se beneficiam da dependência à que os músicos estão submetidos. O lucro das gravadoras e das emissoras de rádio e tv ligadas à elas dependem da manutenção desse sistema e é para preservá-lo que mantém o Teatro Mágico, e vários artistas que enveredaram pelo mesmo caminho, longe da sua programação (Sobre o posicionamento politico do grupo leia a entrevista com Fernando Anitelli na revista Fórum). É por tudo isso que a presença deles na novela da Globo surpreendeu.
Cooptação? De jeito nenhum! Pelo Twitter, enquanto os fãs se dividiam entre os que comemoravam e os que temiam que essa mega-exposição venha a afastar o grupo de seus ideais, @oteatromagico reiterava seu compromisso contra o monopólio dos meios de comunicação, a favor da mídia livre e da revisão da Lei de Direitos Autorais.
Conseguir espaço na maior rede de televisão do país e em horário nobre sem abrir mão dos princípios defendidos a longa data nem aderir a esquemas como o popular jabá (pagar para aparecer em programas de tv ou tocar nas rádios) comprova que produzir música de forma livre e independente não é apenas um modo de trabalho alternativo, mas é perfeitamente viável. Me perdoem se estou corrompendo um conceito criado por McLuhan, mas se o meio é a mensagem, a mensagem do Teatro Mágico acaba de ganhar um alcance incrível. Sem dúvida é uma uma grande vitória.

Bom, depois disso tudo, não é preciso dizer mais nada. É a resposta à aqueles que se dizeram “decepcionados” com a participação do TM na Novela, achando que a trupe estava indo contra seus ideais e a luta de quase 7 anos pela música livre. Mais uma vez parabéns a todos que fazem parte do Teatro Mágico e para todos nós, fãs, que acredita nessa luta. É uma vitória de todos.
A trupe já se apresentou no TeleTon, no Altas Horas e também em outros canais.A novela foi apenas mais um programa que teve a honra de ter a presença da trupe.Eu penso assim.
Lógico que a repercussão dessa vez foi bem maior e teve gente que achou que o TM “mudou de time” por causa do tipo de programação.
Foi uma conquista sem tamanho.

Todos os fãs deveriam ficar emocionados por saberem que a trup conseguiu de maneira independente e sem nenhum jabá chegar naquele momento. Parabens TM, e BRILHEM AONDE ESTIVER. bem, meu noivo e eu somos militantes da pastoral da juventude (pela vida da juventude!)e estavamos hoje em uma atividade da pj… mas na hora do almoço a conversa era o TM nas 8!!! cheguei agora em casa, vim correndo pro computador achar alguma coisa!!! quando vi… foi um misto de euforia inebriante(não me esqueço do DNJ 2006 – são paulo = outra Igreja possível!!!) e de ciúmes… me vi muito egoista! como assim algo tão nosso (porque começamos a namorar exatamente no dia 19/02/2006 no Coppola Music, embalados pela música, poesia engajada e harmonia do TM)tão exposto… tão público… tão demais… a trupe está de parabéns!!! só espero que o pároco aqui não tenha assistido a novela… porque temos um combinado na paróquia de não tocar música de novela em casamento (vamos nos casar logo logo!)… afinal TM faz parte da trilha da nossa historia de amor/vida…
e só enquanto nós respirarmos, vamos lembrar de nós!!! do nosso tempo!!! do nosso povo!!! da nossa luta!!!

Essa aparição foi um triste recorte do real TM. Por favor…quem já vibrou com Xaneu nº5 nunca imaginou ouvir Anjo mais velho como fundinho musical de um diálogo intriguento entre dois personagens da novela das 8 (Dora e aquela prima maluca). Pior ainda foi ver a cara do Anitelli tentando fazendo figuração na cena em que a Dora vai pro hospital ter filho, nem parecia o mesmo que em dezembro dizia aqui em Belém que o objetivo desse projeto não é entretenimento e sim de provocação. Aproveitar-se da televisão para divulgar as mensagens que o TM traz não é problemático, a questão é que essa aparição nem de longe apresenta o que realmente o TM é. Em nenhum momento ouvi poesias ou as inquietações da trupe, não houve fala, só vi mais uma banda no plano de fundo e isso é tudo o que TM não é. Isso sem dúvidas foi manipulado pela Globo e reforça o poder que ela tem, duvido muito que permitiriam que Fernando parasse para sequer comentar sobre a nova MPB (Música Para Baixar).
Tudo não passou de um grande circo sem essência e de pura música rara em liquidação sim!!
